HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is a markup language used to create and structure web pages. It provides a way to describe the content and structure of a web page using a set of HTML tags and attributes.
An HTML document consists of a series of elements, each represented by an HTML tag. Some common HTML tags include:
<html>: the root element that contains all other HTML elements on a page.<head>: contains meta information about the document, such as the title and description, which is used by search engines and browsers.<body>: contains the main content of the web page, such as text, images, and links.<p>: represents a paragraph of text.<a>: creates a hyperlink to another page or resource.<img>: displays an image on the page.<header>: represents the header of a web page or section.<nav>: represents a section of navigation links.<main>: represents the main content of a document.<footer>: represents the footer of a web page or section.
HTML can be written using a text editor, such as Notepad or Sublime Text, and viewed in a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. When a web browser loads an HTML document, it interprets the HTML tags and displays the content in the browser window.
HTML is a fundamental technology for building websites and web applications, and it is the foundation upon which most other web development technologies, such as CSS and JavaScript, are built.
